I have to admit, I rarely get 8 hours of sleep. Like so many waking up wishing we could’ve stayed in bed a little longer. Yes, I am aware of the effects of not getting enough sleep; lack of focus, dark bags under my eyes, irritability, fatigue, weight gain, the list goes on and on. Someday I will make getting more rest a priority until then, i’ve got things to do and people to see.
A study conducted by the National Sleep Foundation found women 30-60 years old on average only sleep 6 hours and 41 minutes a night during the week. So, something else in life I fall into the average category!! We are all waking up wishing we could’ve caught more z’s and it’s likely to show in our faces, so here are 10 ways to look like you got more sleep than you did
At night I focus on moisturizing my skin. I use a makeup wipe that is jam packed with nutrients to prep my skin for more hydration. Then follow up with a beauty serum which mimics our skin’s natural moisturizing process and I lock it all in with a night cream. This is the Lazy Girl Skin Care Routine that has taken off by storm!
Make sure you are replenishing your body with a tall glass of water as soon as you rise from bed. Staying hydrated throughout the day will help you look better and feel better. Hydration will help your skin tone even out and help avoid dark under eyes.
Dark under eye circles, a tell tell sign you missed out on some sleep. Make these circles disappear by applying a lighter than your skin tone concealer in a triangle shape under your eyes down onto your cheek bone. You will immediately look like you have came back to life!
Avoid putting mascara on your lower lashes on those days you didn’t get much sleep. This will enhance your eyes making them appear wide open. Also avoid a dark eyeliner on your sleepy days.
Another trick to make your eyes appear brighter and more open is applying a white liner to your bottom waterline.
Apply a flesh toned light eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes. This will instantly make your eyes appear more awake. My favorite is a cream eyeshadow called victorious and I swear it makes my eyes look flawless and ready to take on the day.
Rosy cheeks will liven up your face even though you are feeling exhausted. It’s the easiest way to fake a full nights rest and will create a little youthfulness!! Don’t go bold, stick to a natural looking rosy or peachy blush.
Keep a bottle of rose water on you and through out the day spritz your face. This will leave you with a little bit of a dewy look, the coolness will energize you and the smell will awaken your senses!
Using a lipstick or lip product with a shine is important on those days you are struggling to look alive! You can go a little bolder or a natural hue, just make sure there is a gloss finish making your lips look hydrated and taking attention away from your tired eyes!
Not just any eye drops!! You need to hydrate the windows to your soul. This will reduce redness, rid the dry itchiness and stop your eyes from sticking everytime you blink! My favorite hands down is Lumify eyedrops they are like nothing else Ive ever tried.
I hope these tips help you live your best tired life! lol, no really I hope they do! Use them and let me know if you have some tricks of your own that help you hide the fact you don’t get enough rest!
