8 ways to lower and reduce stress and anxiety
- Exercise – I hate, like really do NOT like at all exercising. However it lowers my stress, and quickly! I used to always say it relieves stress because the entire work out the only ting going through my mind is, Im not going to die, Im not going to die!! lol, seriously. It would make me stop thinking about all the things stressing me out!!
Truth is when we work out our body lowers our stress hormones. Our bodies release endorphines our bodies “natural painkiller”. Exercising also improves our sleep, and sleep supports lowering stress and anxiety.
2. Supplements – With a quick google search of supplements that help lower stress and anxiety you will find sooooo much info! Some of my favorites are lemon balm to help with anxiety, greentea, kava kava, and my all time favorite is 10mg of CBD daily.3. Light a candle – or diffuse some essential oils to alter your mood. A few calming scents are lavender, rose, sandalwood, orange blossom to name a few. Using scents to help improve or alter your mood is called aromatherapy.
4. Lower Caffeine Intake – If caffeine makes you jittery on a typical day, it can really increase your anxiety and stress on a bad day!
Just something to keep an eye on if you have never taken this into consideration for your stress and anxiety!5. Chewing Gum – When I was stressed, I used to chew gums so hard that I started getting a headache and my jaws were getting super tired. Later I researched and found in a study that when you are chewing gum, it increases the blood flow to your brain which helps in reducing anxiety and stress so you must try this if you are feeling stressed or anxious.
6. Spending time with friends and family – We all are in a weird situation right now due to COVID-19 but you can spend the time with your friends and family virtually. My parents came to meet me, they stayed on the driveway, and we chatted with each other by maintaining a distance.
One more thing you can do to spend time with your friends and family is by doing a conference call with them through zoom. You guys can see and interact with each other. Moreover, you can be a part of birthdays through zoom.
But your family might be toxic, maybe they are the ones that are making you stress out and causing you anxiety. If that is the case, don’t hang out with them. Only hang out with people that bring you joy, they might be your friends or family. It will be the best way to treat stress and anxiety.
7.Keeping a Journal – Writing down things that are causing you to stress and generally making you crazy is going to help you tremendously. What helps me more than writing about the things that are bothering me are the things for which I am grateful and thankful. Instead of focusing on the things that are stressful, I prefer to focus on the things that are amazing and it really helps to shift my mood from stress and anxiety.
8. Deep Breath – Deep breaths are the most common way of relieving stress. The reason is your mind shifts from the thing that is bothering you and it focuses on taking breaths. When you are taking inhaling and exhaling, you are slowing your heart rate and when you slow your heart rate, you feel a sense of peacefulness.
These are some great ways of lowering your stress and anxiety. All these things work for me and I’m sure they will benefit you as well. Now all you have to do is to search on google about each of these things.
