10 Things To Do When Daylight Savings Time Begins…
Growing up in Indiana daylight savings wasn’t something we practiced until I was an adult. I was slightly annoyed when we first implemented this change, and I quickly fell in love when Id get off work of an evening and still have a little daylight!!
One thing still remains, I can’t remember what direction the clock goes in the fall and spring! I embarrassedly mention that to my husband who grew up in Kentucky and they have always changed times.
He put it so simple, “In the spring the time springs forward and in the fall the time falls backwards.” DAMN! That makes it easy to get it right!
here are 10 other things we get right with daylight savings time
1. Change the clocks! Even the one in you car and don’t forget the microwave. This is a reminder to me every year there are a few important semi annual tasks I need to complete.
2. Change the batteries in the smoke detector. Atleast make sure they are in working order.
3. Change the direction of your ceiling fans.
4. Flip or Rotate your mattress. If it’s a pillowtop mattress just spin the mattress.
5. Turn off Exterior faucets.
6. Check your furnace and water heater. If nothing else replace the air filter.
7. Clean out your gutters.
8. Vacuum out the dryer vent and ducts. Lint stuck in the vents and space behind the dryer is a common cause of home fires.
9. Clean your fridge coils.
As well as cleaning the water filter on your fridge.
10. Restock your Emergency Kit. Batteries in your flashlight, weather radio, candle and matches.
